NEWBIE GUIDEWelcome to Fairy Tail Bliss! We are a non-canon Fairy Tail role play. This means our magic and systems are loosely based off of the Fairy Tail animanga series, though we do have panfandom tendencies wherein you can create just about any race of a character (werewolf, vampire, angel, etc.) and have just about any back story (ninja clan, android creation, etc.) as long as it doesn't conflict with our universe. If you ever feel lost on anything about FTB, please direct your attention back to this guide. If this page doesn't have the answer, you have the help board to ask questions on, and you are more than welcome to PM a staff member. FTB is a fairly relaxed community with more PVE (person versus environment) than PVP (person versus person). This means we care more about plot than who can win the most battles against each other.
about the universe
Our setting and plot page has more details. As for a rough summary, however, Earthland is almost like a Medieval society in terms of technological advancements. Electricity does not exist, some countries still employ serfdom, etc. In lieu of electricity, however, there are lacrima-powered objects. Lacrima is a magic crystal that harnesses raw energy.
You need Jewels to buy abilities, upgrades, and magical items for your characters. But we'll get to that a little bit later. You can earn Jewels by completing missions, completing staff created missions or engaging in site events. We normally have one every season, but sometimes we will go a season without a role play event and might simply have some games for you to participate in.
You are given a lot of free reign when it comes to your character's background. You can make up places they came from. Honestly, 99% of what you have in mind will probably work. If you're having trouble figuring out if your plot might fit here, message a staff member. They'll guide you in the right direction.
So, in order to role play, you need a profile. You will find the profile template here. You will need to use the provided template. If you are having trouble with it then please ask in the CBox or PM one of the staff.
After copying the coding, you will create a new thread here and paste the coding inside. Then, you will title your thread as GUILD, first last name. All capitals letters for the guild, all lowercase for the character name. Edit the profile so it is completed in its entirety. The biography portion can be done later.
When you have finished your profile, please link it here. A staff member will get to it shortly. As long as your coding checks out and your avatar is the correct size, it will almost always be approved on the first go. Please make sure you fill out your miniprofile information. This is the section that appears when you hover over your long image under your name. Edit this information by clicking "profile" right under the site banner. Click "edit profile" and then click the "personal" tab. Your hover image (also in the personal tab) should be 250 pixels wide and 350 pixels long. If you need one made, ask AERIE or Kyou.
If a staff member posts on your profile asking you to correct something, simply fix the error and link your profile again in the notification thread. Once it is approved, you are welcome to role play! You cannot partake in missions until your magic is approved, however, which will be covered in the next section. But you are encouraged to start a plot page for your character immediately!
Unless you are a non-mage (which rarely happens on FTB), your character practices magic. Canonically, less than 10% of Earthland's population consists of mages. But for the sake of role play, everyone here is a mage. Should you want to be different and try to create a "non-mage" you may find yourself limited by this world's magic-based logic. Each mage specializes in a theme of magic. This means all of your spells are related (i.e. fire elemental, guns, etc.). For a description of how the magic type system works, check out the magic guide.
Grab the abilities template here. Then, post it in a new thread here. It is important to note that your character's abilities have ranks. This is either E-Class, D-Class, C-Class, B-Class, A-Class, S-Class or Elite. For detailed descriptions on each ranking, go here. A character can start with three abilities, and those abilities can be as high as A rank. To get S rank abilities you will need to purchase them, and Elite abilities are rewarded from events.
Once you enter your magic type, you will see that there is an item section and ability section. You have 3 slots to begin with, meaning you can have 1 item and 2 abilities or 0 items and 3 abilities or 2 items and 1 ability. Whatever you choose, the maximum rank you can give them is A class. If you scroll down on this post, you will see what each ability rank is capable of.
In your description, you are to describe the mechanics of your ability. This is essentially each function. We have a full-blown mechanics guide for you to look at. If you get confused, use the help board or ask a staff member. Whenever you are done designing your magic, link it here.
You can always edit the first post of your profile. If you change the face claim, name, or guild, please let us know in the giant help thread. Any magic revisions need to grab the template here and then post it here. When done, link your thread in the same place you grabbed the template from.
Constant magic revisions are not allowed. Please think carefully when you choose your magic. Also, if you ever need a character archived, the database updates, or even role play threads archived, you can use that Giant Help Thread I linked in the aforementioned paragraph.
Jewels are the basis of our progression system. To rank up your character, purchase abilities or upgrade abilities you need jewels. Fortunately for you, FTB provides multiple avenues for receiving jewels. The most basic of these methods is found in the next section. You can perform missions and receive jewels for your work. We also have events every so often ranging in size from small OOC games to large IC plots.
Basically, missions are your main source of Jewels. Most people create their own custom missions. These are basically jobs that your character is hired to do, normally along with one or more others. You can make it an open mission for anyone to join or get a friend or two beforehand and make it only open to them. Please read all of the rules on that mission page.
Alternatively, there are monthly canon missions that Aerie and Kyo create. They reap the same rewards as normal missions and give you an additional bonus if you complete the mission by the deadline. Canon missions generally tend to work in themes and affect the site as a whole (either majorly or not). It is highly suggested you partake in a canon mission each month, as the reward bonus is usually fantastic, and items granted sometimes even allow things FTB normally does not.
When you have completed a mission you will post a link to the Mission Info Here. That will tell staff that they need to look at it. Assuming you have met the minimum word and post requirements, the staff will approve your collect. However, if there are any problems you will get a chance to fix them. Just be sure to fix them because if you keep making the same mistakes, the staff might subtract some jewels instead.
Canon characters are usually positions taken from the series. They either give the character more authority or magical benefits. For an entire description of canon types and the rules they must follow, read here. The actual canon roster is located here, and it is updated frequently so that you can see which positions are open or taken. Please only take a canon character if you plan to be active with it. Please also be reminded that Guild Master positions and the Knight General start as Elite class.
We hold monthly activity checks, and all you have to do is tag your accounts in that thread (which is always posted as an announcement) for your character to remain on the site. If you don't post in the activity check, and if you don't have an away thread, then your character will be archived. To be able to thread again you will need to have them unarchived.
Most people on FTB are not huge on unscripted fights. Still, if you want legitimate battle with someone, you should read our battle etiquette guide. As far as plotting and threading with others, you are welcome to start and open thread or even join one. Open threads usually have the tag [open] or [o] in the title to signal that anyone can join. Other tags you may see are [closed], [c], [private], or some variations of those. Just try to pay attention. Additionally, you should check out the plot pages people have posted. Go through them and suggest relationships or plots between your character and others! Or, you can even start your own plot page!
Please abide by the rules set forth on FTB. We are a PG-13 site, and generally we are very relaxed and amicable. If you find yourself having trouble fitting in, PM Aerie! I am very good at including members in plots or pointing them in the right directions. Don't ever feel intimidated to come to me for anything -- even if it is a
